I strongly condemn this targeted attack on Periyar and our ideology by right-wing forces.
Periyar fought for the downtrodden classes. He voiced the rights of women. He spoke against the caste system.
The DMK will defend the Dravidian ideology against all such oppressive forces.
DMK president M.K. Stalin voiced forceful condemnation over targeted ideological attacks launched by right-wing forces against social reformer Thanthai Periyar E.V. Ramasamy. Stalin emphasized that Periyar dedicated his entire life to relentless struggle on behalf of downtrodden classes, fearlessly championing women's liberation, property rights for daughters, and the eradication of the regressive caste hierarchy. He noted that reactionary elements target Periyar precisely because his rationalist philosophy continues to threaten orthodox hegemony and social stratification.
Stalin declared that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam will serve as an impregnable shield protecting the egalitarian principles of the Dravidian movement against all reactionary assaults. He pointed out that Tamil Nadu's remarkable socio-economic achievements, high literacy rates, and robust affirmative action frameworks are direct outcomes of the self-respect ideology pioneered by Periyar. Any attempt to tarnish his towering reformist legacy will be met with resolute democratic resistance from the people of Tamil Nadu.
Stalin affirmed that the DMK remains uncompromisingly devoted to Periyar's vision of universal human dignity, gender equality, and casteless fraternity. He vowed that the party will defeat every sinister effort by oppressive forces to reverse Tamil Nadu's progressive social trajectory.
