DMK president M.K. Stalin expressed acute concern over the critical shortage of urea fertilizers across primary agricultural cooperative societies in Tamil Nadu, warning that the crisis has plunged farming communities into severe distress during the crucial samba cultivation season. Stalin noted that farmers standing in long, exhausting queues at local cooperative credit societies were returning empty-handed without required nutrients for their standing crops. He emphasized that timely fertilizer application is vital to safeguard crop yields and ensure agrarian livelihood survival.

Stalin criticized both the central government and the state AIADMK administration for gross apathy and lack of planning in securing adequate fertilizer allotments for the state. Despite knowing seasonal sowing schedules, administrative authorities failed to coordinate supply chains, manage rail rakes, or maintain essential buffer stocks in rural cooperative godowns. This administrative negligence left desperate farmers vulnerable to black-marketing and exorbitant pricing by private fertilizer dealers.

Stalin demanded that central and state agriculture ministries immediately discard their indifferent attitude and execute emergency logistics to supply required quantities of urea to all cooperative societies. He affirmed that the DMK will vigorously advocate for farmers' essential rights and input security.
