I sincerely hope that the new Government will work closely with the Tamils who are living in Maharashtra to ensure their safety and progress within the state.
I also hope that @OfficeofUT will now join all of us in speaking for greater State Autonomy and federal rights.
DMK president M.K. Stalin conveyed his earnest hope that the newly installed government in Maharashtra, led by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, will foster inclusive administration and work closely with Tamil communities residing across Mumbai and other industrial districts. Stalin emphasized that hundreds of thousands of Tamils have lived in Maharashtra for generations, contributing significantly to the state's commercial, industrial, and cultural vitality. He urged the new dispensation to guarantee their absolute safety, civic welfare, and socio-economic advancement.
Beyond community welfare, Stalin invited Chief Minister Thackeray to join hands with progressive regional leaders in vigorously advocating for greater state autonomy and constitutional federal rights. He pointed out that regional states across India face unprecedented challenges from central fiscal encroachments, erosion of revenue independence under the GST regime, and administrative overreach by appointed gubernatorial offices. A united front of strong regional governments is imperative to preserve federalism.
Stalin affirmed that Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra share a common economic and federal responsibility to defend state-level legislative and developmental autonomy. He expressed optimism that mutual cooperation between regional leaderships will strengthen constitutional federalism across the nation.
