DMK president M.K. Stalin voiced deep concern over the imminent threat of widespread retrenchment across India's information technology sector, warning that over 40,000 skilled IT employees faced sudden job losses due to structural economic distress. Stalin attributed this alarming corporate contraction directly to the flawed fiscal policies, arbitrary regulatory interventions, and economic mismanagement of the Union BJP government. He noted that technical professionals who contributed significantly to national service exports are now confronting unprecedented livelihood insecurity.
Stalin strongly criticized both the central government and the state AIADMK administration for demonstrating complete indifference to the plight of retrenched software professionals. Neither administration formulated proactive industrial interventions, worker protection guidelines, or alternative employment transition mechanisms to absorb displaced engineers. Stalin stressed that abandoning salaried technical workers to abrupt terminations without statutory safeguards exposes a callous lack of governance vision and economic responsibility.
He demanded that the central and state labour departments intervene immediately to monitor retrenchment processes, enforce statutory severance protections, and encourage technical innovation centers to generate replacement employment. Stalin resolved that the DMK will persistently defend the workplace rights and welfare of Tamil Nadu's tech workforce.
