DMK president M.K. Stalin expressed profound anguish and outrage over the catastrophic collapse of a massive private compound wall in Mettupalayam, which crushed seventeen Dalit citizens to death inside their homes. Stalin identified the structure as a discriminatory untouchability wall constructed specifically to segregate marginalized residents. He characterized the loss of seventeen precious lives as a horrific humanitarian tragedy stemming from deep-seated caste bias and institutional complacency.
Stalin demanded full public transparency regarding who exerted undue influence over the local district administration and police department to protect the private wall owner. He criticized authorities for failing to act on earlier neighborhood complaints about the hazardous, illegally heightened barrier. Stalin asserted that administrative functionaries and police personnel who compromised public safety to shield privileged offenders must be unmasked and punished before the general public.
Calling for rigorous legal accountability, Stalin insisted that the state police register cases under statutory anti-discrimination and homicide provisions against all culpable parties. He affirmed that the DMK will lead the fight to eradicate discriminatory physical barriers throughout the state and ensure complete social justice, structural safety, and legal retribution for the victims.
