DMK president M.K. Stalin addressed a comprehensive memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi detailing critical challenges facing Tamil Nadu alongside key concerns regarding the welfare of Sri Lankan Tamils. The detailed petition was presented directly to the Prime Minister in New Delhi by a high-level DMK parliamentary delegation comprising T.R. Baalu, Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, and Tiruchi Siva. Stalin expressed earnest optimism that the Union executive will act decisively on the urgent representations submitted.
The memorandum highlighted key state issues including equitable financial allocations, pending GST compensations, statutory protection of regional language rights, relief for distressed agrarian sectors, and equitable river water sharing arrangements. Additionally, the representation underscored the urgent need for India's diplomatic leadership to ensure political autonomy, civil rights, rehabilitation, and dignified livelihoods for Tamil populations residing in northern and eastern Sri Lanka.
Stalin emphasized that the DMK functions as a steadfast legislative voice for Tamil Nadu's constitutional entitlements in Parliament. He urged central authorities to engage constructively with the demands presented, reiterating that safeguarding state rights, securing fiscal justice, and protecting Tamil ethnic minorities remains an enduring ideological priority for the Dravidian movement.
