DMK president M.K. Stalin welcomed the state government's decision to rescind its controversial order introducing Hindi language courses at the International Institute of Tamil Studies in Chennai. Stalin emphasized that this policy reversal was achieved solely due to vigorous protests and immediate public mobilization spearheaded by the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. He criticized the irony of an administration bearing Perarignar Anna's name attempting to impose Hindi within a premier institution specifically founded to advance global Tamil research and linguistic scholarship.
Stalin stated that the International Institute of Tamil Studies was established to foster advanced academic research, preserve classical Tamil heritage, and propagate Tamil literature internationally. Introducing Hindi instruction within such a specialized linguistic research center represented a blatant betrayal of Tamil sentiment and an unnecessary capitulation to central linguistic imposition. Stalin advised the ruling AIADMK leadership that even if they lacked the competence to advance Tamil language development, they should at least refrain from actively undermining its linguistic sovereignty.
Stalin reaffirmed that the DMK will remain perpetually vigilant against subtle and overt efforts to impose Hindi upon Tamil Nadu. He pledged that the party will continue to defend Tamil language rights, cultural pride, and linguistic self-respect at all costs.
