DMK president M.K. Stalin presided over a high-level meeting comprising party district secretaries, Members of the Legislative Assembly, and Members of Parliament at Anna Arivalayam. The leadership conclave unanimously adopted a strongly worded resolution condemning the Tamil Nadu State Election Commission for issuing a revised local body election notification that flagrantly disregarded binding directives issued by the Supreme Court of India. Stalin characterized the commission's arbitrary actions as a calculated maneuver intended to sabotage lawful civic elections.
The resolution emphasized that the apex court had mandated the completion of legal delimitation and reservation formalities across newly formed districts before proceeding with notifications. By ignoring judicial stipulations and rushing flawed election schedules, the election authorities functioned as subordinate instruments of the ruling AIADMK government. Stalin asserted that such partisan conduct subverts democratic decentralization and disenfranchises marginalized communities entitled to constitutionally mandated ward reservations in local panchayats and municipal bodies.
Stalin declared that the DMK will not remain silent while constitutional norms are subverted by administrative machinations. He affirmed that the party will pursue all necessary legal and democratic remedies to ensure free, fair, and legally compliant civic polls across Tamil Nadu.
