DMK president M.K. Stalin condemned Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami for extending unconditional parliamentary support to the Citizenship Amendment Bill, characterizing the move as an unforgivable betrayal of minority communities and displaced Sri Lankan Tamils. Addressing the media, Stalin sharply questioned why the ruling party continues to retain the revered name of Perarignar Anna in its organizational title if its ideological agenda has completely merged with that of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Stalin highlighted that Perarignar Anna founded the Dravidian party on the unshakeable principles of rationalism, communal brotherhood, state autonomy, and secular inclusion. By voting in favor of legislation that introduces religious distinctions into citizenship laws and ignores persecuted Eelam Tamils, the AIADMK leadership demonstrated that it has completely abandoned Anna's egalitarian political vision. The state government compromised the foundational ideals of Tamil society simply to maintain central political patronage and cling to executive power.
Stalin declared that the people of Tamil Nadu will not forgive the ruling dispensation for its ideological surrender. He reaffirmed that the DMK will steadfastly uphold Anna's ideals, fighting relentlessly to protect constitutional secularism and defend the dignity of all marginalized and refugee communities.
