DMK president M.K. Stalin issued a passionate appeal in his regular communication to party brethren, urging cadres and citizens across Tamil Nadu to mobilize in massive numbers for the statewide protest demonstrations scheduled for the following day. Stalin stated that joining the protests is a patriotic duty to defend the country from religious division caused by the Union Government's Citizenship Amendment Act. He called upon the public to expose the authoritarian nature of the legislation before the court of the people.
Stalin stressed that the controversial enactment inflicts direct damage on the rights of the Muslim community while utterly disregarding the long-standing welfare and dignity of displaced Sri Lankan Tamils. By introducing sectarian criteria into citizenship norms, the central regime seeks to fracture the secular foundations of Indian democracy. He criticized the ruling AIADMK government for voting in favor of the legislation in Parliament, stating that its betrayal of Tamil interests must be strongly condemned through peaceful grassroots agitation.
Stalin concluded that public unity and courageous dissent remain essential to halt unconstitutional legislation. He reaffirmed that the DMK will persistently lead mass democratic movements to protect communal fraternity and uphold the rights of persecuted and minority communities.
