DMK president M.K. Stalin called for an uncompromising and impartial investigation into the high-profile temple idol theft and smuggling cases in Tamil Nadu, following the formal handover of case casefiles to the Additional Director General of Police per judicial orders. Stalin highlighted that the senior police officer who previously led the idol wing investigation had explicitly pointed fingers at influential ministers in the ruling AIADMK government. He insisted that investigators must unearth the complete truth without succumbing to executive intimidation.

Stalin pointed out that ancient temple idols represent invaluable cultural treasures and spiritual heritage of Tamil society. Systematic smuggling of sacred bronze sculptures from centuries-old heritage shrines required high-level political patronage and bureaucratic collusion. The transfer of investigative authority under court directions must not become an opportunity for the state government to dilute charges or shield culpable political functionaries. The newly assigned investigating officers carry an institutional obligation to preserve investigative integrity and safeguard vital evidentiary material.

Stalin warned that any attempt by the AIADMK administration to bury the idol theft investigation will face severe public resistance. He affirmed that the DMK will monitor developments closely to ensure that all individuals involved face rigorous legal accountability.
