DMK president M.K. Stalin issued a statement on Minorities Rights Day, affirming that safeguarding the welfare, dignity, and constitutional rights of all minority communities remains a foundational objective of the Dravidian movement. Stalin stressed that the Dravidian movement has historically championed social justice and absolute equality across religious, ethnic, linguistic, and gender distinctions. On this commemorative occasion, he called upon citizens to pledge their collective determination to defend minority rights currently endangered by the Citizenship Amendment Act.
Stalin noted that the central government's legislative initiatives deliberately target minority groups, creating widespread insecurity and undermining the pluralistic character of the nation. He pointed out that depriving religious minorities of equal legal protection violates the basic structure of the Constitution. The DMK's political legacy has consistently defended minority institutions, educational entitlements, and civic safeguards, ensuring that religious and linguistic minorities participate fully in regional progress without apprehension or discrimination.
Stalin resolved that the DMK will persistently oppose central policies that seek to reduce minorities to second-class citizens. He reiterated that the party will continue to stand as an uncompromising shield protecting the democratic liberties of all marginalized sections across Tamil Nadu.
