DMK president M.K. Stalin addressed media representatives at the party headquarters, Anna Arivalayam, following an intensive consultative conference of opposition political parties convened to deliberate on the Citizenship Amendment Act. Briefing journalists on the collective resolutions adopted during the meeting, Stalin outlined the united roadmap for non-violent political resistance across Tamil Nadu. He emphasized that all alliance constituents stood firmly united in their resolve to oppose central laws that discriminate on the basis of religious faith.
Stalin informed the press that the opposition parties unanimously resolved to hold a monumental rally in Chennai on December 23, welcoming non-partisan civic groups, student bodies, and concerned citizens to participate. He criticized the ruling AIADMK government for voting in favor of the legislation in the Rajya Sabha, asserting that the state administration betrayed Tamil interests and compromised secular values solely to maintain executive power. The opposition's joint action aims to bring public pressure on central authorities.
Stalin reiterated that the struggle against the citizenship legislation will be conducted strictly through democratic, peaceful methods. He affirmed that the DMK and its coalition partners will persistently mobilize popular resistance across all districts until constitutional equality is upheld.
