DMK president M.K. Stalin strongly condemned the high-handed actions of police and administrative authorities in New Delhi following the detention of renowned historian Ramachandra Guha, political activist Yogendra Yadav, and numerous peaceful demonstrators protesting against the Citizenship Amendment Act. Stalin criticized the abrupt suspension of internet connectivity and mobile communication services across parts of the national capital, characterizing these administrative curbs as direct assaults on freedom of expression and constitutional rights.

Stalin warned that when institutional space for legitimate democratic dissent is deliberately constricted through police intimidation and arbitrary detentions, dictatorship inexorably replaces constitutional democracy. He observed that detaining distinguished intellectuals and peaceful citizens holding copies of the Constitution exposes executive panic and administrative intolerance. Instead of engaging with widespread public grievances regarding discriminatory legislation, the central government resorted to coercive colonial-era measures to silence critical voices.
