DMK president M.K. Stalin issued a passionate appeal calling upon citizens across Tamil Nadu to transcend political affiliations, religious identities, caste boundaries, and state borders to participate in the massive anti-Citizenship Amendment Act demonstration scheduled in Chennai on December 23. Stalin emphasized that safeguarding constitutional democracy requires unprecedented popular unity. He declared that citizens must demonstrate collective solidarity with a single voice, affirming that unified democratic resistance will inevitably secure victory over divisive legislative measures.
Stalin stressed that the controversial citizenship law directly threatens the secular character and composite heritage of the Indian republic. By introducing religious parameters into citizenship determinations, the central government has generated widespread social anxiety among minority communities and weakened constitutional guarantees of equality. He noted that the planned demonstration provides an open platform for civil society groups, professional forums, students, and common citizens to express resolute opposition to authoritarian governance.
Stalin reiterated that Tamil Nadu has historically served as a beacon for progressive social justice and democratic rights. He resolved that the DMK will persistently lead mass peaceful mobilizations to uphold constitutional values, secular harmony, and citizen equality across the state.
