DMK president M.K. Stalin sharply criticized the Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party unit after it posted derogatory remarks targeting social reformer Thanthai Periyar on social media and subsequently deleted the post following intense public backlash. Stalin remarked that the BJP leadership should have demonstrated basic prudence before publishing such offensive statements against the architect of modern Tamil rationalism. He declared that even decades after his passing, Periyar's ideological stature continues to evoke profound fear among reactionary political forces.

Stalin questioned whether the ruling AIADMK government possessed the political courage to defend the state's iconic reformist heritage or would instead remain passive like an earthworm to avoid displeasing central authorities. Despite bearing Perarignar Anna's name in its title, the AIADMK leadership repeatedly accommodates attacks on Dravidian leaders to preserve its tenuous hold on administrative power. Allowing external political outfits to demean Periyar without official rebuke exposes total ideological capitulation.

Stalin affirmed that Periyar's principles of social justice, self-respect, and human dignity remain deeply entrenched in Tamil society. He resolved that the DMK will resolutely resist every attempt to denigrate reformist pioneers who dismantled caste oppression and secured dignity for marginalized communities.
