DMK president M.K. Stalin issued a stern warning regarding the conduct of local body elections across Tamil Nadu, emphasizing that grassroots civic institutions form the bedrock of democratic governance. Writing in his regular communication to party cadre, Stalin asserted that fraudulent electoral practices at the panchayat and municipal levels would spread like a cancer across the entire state administrative apparatus. He emphasized that fair civic elections remain essential for democratic decentralization and public trust in local governance.
Stalin specifically cautioned government personnel and election officials against succumbing to political pressure or collaborating in illegal maneuvers orchestrated by the ruling AIADMK establishment. He noted that officials who compromise statutory rules to facilitate ruling party malpractices will face serious legal consequences and judicial scrutiny once political power shifts in the state. Administrative machinery must operate impartially and resist executive coercion during the multi-phase polling process.
Stalin urged civic election functionaries across Tamil Nadu to uphold their constitutional duty rather than partisan interests. He reaffirmed that the DMK will systematically document all electoral irregularities to ensure that complicit authorities face rigorous legal accountability before the courts.
