DMK president M.K. Stalin strongly criticized the utter confusion and contradictory public statements emerging from Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami and School Education Minister K.A. Sengottaiyan regarding orders requiring school children to attend classes during the Pongal festival holidays. Stalin stated that the evasive, conflicting responses offered by ministers make one suspect whether the School Education Department remains under governmental control at all, or operates as a rogue administrative apparatus. The administration was caught red-handed attempting to force school attendance for a central broadcast and then tried to obfuscate.
Stalin pointed out that while educational officers issued written circulars instructing headmasters to ensure student attendance on the traditional festive holiday, ministers offered contradictory verbal denials in front of television cameras. Such evasive conduct confuses headmasters, distresses parents, and shows complete administrative chaos within the school education department.
Stalin demanded that the state leadership abandon deceptive evasions and immediately issue a formal, legally binding executive notification rescinding any directive requiring student attendance during Pongal. He stressed that administrative transparency and bureaucratic accountability are essential to safeguard the educational welfare and traditional festival entitlements of schoolchildren.
