DMK president M.K. Stalin strongly condemned the shameful desecration of the statue of former Chief Minister and educational visionary K. Kamarajar in Srivilliputhur, Virudhunagar district. Stalin stated that under the incompetent AIADMK administration, neither ordinary citizens nor statues of revered historical leaders enjoy adequate safety. He pointed out that recurring incidents of statue vandalism across the state persist solely because miscreants operate with the absolute certainty that the spineless state government will take no punitive action against perpetrators disturbing communal and social peace.
Stalin recalled Kamarajar's monumental contributions to expanding free school education, pioneering the midday meal scheme, and constructing major irrigation dams across Tamil Nadu. Defiling the memorial of such a selfless national leader represents an intolerable insult to the collective conscience of Tamil society. He criticized the police administration for sluggish investigations and repeated failure to maintain preventive surveillance around prominent public memorials.
Stalin demanded that the state government immediately apprehend and prosecute the anti-social elements responsible under stringent legal provisions. He warned that official hesitation in crushing communal mischief-makers will lead to grave breakdown of public order.
