DMK president M.K. Stalin met with the group of young activists and students who were unlawfully detained and booked by the Chennai city police for drawing peaceful anti-CAA flour kolams in Besant Nagar. Welcoming the courageous youth to party headquarters, Stalin commended their peaceful artistic expression and constitutional awareness. He condemned the AIADMK administration for functioning as subservient henchmen of the central government, acting with extreme paranoia to ensure that even artistic street drawings do not displease political rulers in New Delhi.
Stalin observed that the state government's heavy-handed attempt to erase a simple street kolam achieved the exact opposite outcome, triggering an unprecedented statewide wave of creative democratic resistance. Instead of silencing dissent, the police crackdown inspired millions of households across Tamil Nadu to decorate their doorsteps with anti-CAA and anti-NRC kolams, transforming a traditional domestic art form into a powerful symbol of mass civil disobedience.
Stalin thanked the repressive regime sarcastically for unintentionally catalyzing a vibrant mass cultural uprising among youth and women. He affirmed that the DMK will firmly defend all courageous citizens facing state intimidation and police harassment.
