#TNopposeCAA https://t.co/RfsngNFoLV

DMK president M.K. Stalin vigorously defended the fundamental democratic rights of ordinary citizens protesting against the Citizenship Amendment Act, questioning the blatant hypocrisy and double standards exhibited by the AIADMK administration. Stalin pointed out that while supporters of the contentious central statute were permitted unhindered freedom to assemble and campaign, peaceful citizens expressing dissent through democratic rallies, public demonstrations, or traditional flour kolams faced immediate police harassment, surveillance, and criminal bookings. He asked whether exercising freedom of expression remains valid only when it flatters the ruling establishment.
Stalin characterized the state government's heavy-handed policing as a manifestation of fascist intolerance designed to terrorize civil society and suppress fundamental freedoms guaranteed under Article 19 of the Constitution. Registering criminal cases against women, youth, and community activists for drawing artistic floor slogans reveals extreme administrative paranoia.
Stalin asserted that democratic dissent constitutes the lifeblood of a constitutional republic and cannot be extinguished through police threats or arbitrary detentions. He demanded that the state administration drop all vindictive criminal cases immediately and fully respect the democratic rights of peaceful protesters across Tamil Nadu.
