I welcome the resolution passed by CM @vijayanpinarayi scrapping #CAA2019.
Taking note of the wide-spread movement against this law, I urge all State Assemblies to do the same.
I demand that the TN State Govt also pass a resolution in our Assembly against #CAA2019, #NRC nd #NPR https://t.co/mAvehRdLkd

DMK president M.K. Stalin warmly welcomed the historic statutory resolution passed by the Kerala Legislative Assembly, moved by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, demanding the scrapping of the Citizenship Amendment Act 2019. Stalin observed that Kerala set a courageous constitutional benchmark for Indian federalism by utilizing its sovereign legislative forum to oppose a central statute that violates secularism and constitutional equality for all citizens. He emphasized that widespread popular movements across multiple states demand that all representative provincial assemblies take a unified, principled stand.
Stalin urged state assemblies across India to replicate Kerala's historic initiative, emphasizing that regional governments must serve as constitutional bulwarks against central legislative overreach. He specifically demanded that the Tamil Nadu government summon the state assembly immediately to debate and pass a comprehensive resolution rejecting the Citizenship Amendment Act, National Register of Citizens, and National Population Register.
Stalin asserted that the AIADMK administration cannot continue evading public sentiment or hiding behind procedural pretexts. He affirmed that the DMK will persistently exert democratic pressure inside the house and across the state until an anti-CAA resolution is formally adopted in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly.
