DMK president M.K. Stalin led the Secular Progressive Alliance legislators in staging a principled walkout and boycotting the Governor's Address on the opening day of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly session. Explaining the boycott, Stalin highlighted that the state's outstanding debt had crossed four lakh crore rupees due to chronic financial mismanagement and administrative corruption under the AIADMK regime. He pointed out that industrial growth remains paralyzed, job creation has stalled, and rural employment schemes suffer severe bureaucratic neglect.
Stalin further indicted the state government for betraying Tamil interests by supporting the contentious Citizenship Amendment Act in Parliament and deceiving the public regarding medical entrance examination exemptions. In addition, the state cabinet's official recommendation recommending the release of seven life convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case continues to gather dust without executive resolve. Because the ceremonial address ignored every critical public challenge, opposition legislators refused to participate in the ritual.
Stalin affirmed that the DMK cannot remain a silent spectator to constitutional rituals that whitewash governmental failures. He reiterated that the alliance will continue exposing state policy betrayals inside the house and across public forums.
