DMK president M.K. Stalin extended warm greetings to the conference organized by the Thanjavur Big Temple Rights Retrieval Committee, strongly endorsing their demand that the sacred consecration ceremony of the Brihadisvara Temple be conducted predominantly in Tamil. Stalin emphasized that the iconic eleventh-century Brihadisvara Temple, constructed by Raja Raja Chola, stands as a thousand-year-old architectural marvel and a magnificent monument of Dravidian structural genius, civil engineering, and Tamil cultural preeminence. Conducting sacred temple rituals in the mother tongue is a natural cultural right for the people of Tamil Nadu.
Stalin pointed out that Tamil possesses an ancient, rich devotional tradition immortalized by the Thevaram and Thiruvasagam hymns sung by revered Saivite saints across centuries. Subordinating the classical mother tongue in its own historical temples to satisfy conservative linguistic orthodoxies contradicts the egalitarian ethos of Tamil spiritual devotion. He urged the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department to issue explicit administrative instructions ensuring that Tamil hymns resonate prominently during all stages of the temple consecration.
Stalin wished the rights conference complete success in revitalizing linguistic pride. He affirmed that the DMK will persistently defend the rightful place of Tamil in all spiritual and cultural spaces.
