DMK president M.K. Stalin demanded that the Tamil Nadu cabinet, scheduled to convene under Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami, adopt an unambiguous policy decision prohibiting all hydrocarbon exploration and extraction across the Cauvery delta. Stalin recalled that the state government had repeatedly assured the Legislative Assembly that destructive hydrocarbon projects would never be permitted on fertile farmland. He stressed that the upcoming cabinet meeting presented the ultimate opportunity to convert those rhetorical assembly assurances into an enforceable statutory resolution to prevent fertile delta soils from being turned into an arid Sahara desert.

Stalin noted that the Union government had systematically removed environmental clearance hurdles and public consultation mandates for oil and gas exploration, deliberately facilitating private corporate entry into agricultural zones. He warned that if the state government merely indulges in rhetorical posturing without adopting formal executive decisions, thousands of farming families will be displaced and underground water tables permanently poisoned. Food security and agricultural sustainability must never be compromised for extractive commercial interests.

Stalin asserted that the DMK will not tolerate administrative duplicity on delta protection. He affirmed that the party will spearhead unyielding protests until the delta is protected.
