#NohydrocarboninTN https://t.co/iAgxFHp0V0

DMK president M.K. Stalin announced that the DMK will stage massive demonstration rallies across five Cauvery delta districts on January 28, strongly condemning the BJP and AIADMK regimes for attempting to implement destructive hydrocarbon projects. Stalin asserted that no previous Union government had acted with such blatant authoritarianism, ruthlessly seeking to destroy fertile agricultural lands and dispossess traditional farming communities. He warned that converting Tamil Nadu's agricultural lifeline into an industrial petroleum zone will turn lush fertile delta soil into an uninhabitable desert.
Stalin criticized the central government for exempting hydrocarbon exploration projects from mandatory public environmental hearings, describing it as an anti-democratic conspiracy to suppress local farmer voices. Meanwhile, the AIADMK administration shamelessly allowed central agencies to conduct exploratory drilling operations despite solemn assurances given on the floor of the Legislative Assembly. Stalin stressed that food security, rural livelihoods, and ecological preservation are paramount and must never be sacrificed for multinational corporate exploration.
Stalin called upon farmers, agricultural laborers, trade unions, and civil rights groups to mobilize in record numbers on January 28. He affirmed that the DMK will spearhead the defense of the delta until all hydrocarbon projects are abandoned.
