Stalin addressed a major press conference in Chennai immediately following an extensive consultative meeting of the Secular Progressive Alliance, detailing their unified operational strategy against divisive citizenship laws. Briefing media representatives, Stalin declared that all constituent parties had unanimously resolved to launch a week-long door-to-door signature campaign targeting one crore signatures across Tamil Nadu. He emphasized that the alliance's primary goal is to compel both central and state governments to abandon the contentious Citizenship Amendment Act, National Population Register, and National Register of Citizens.

Responding to journalists' queries, Stalin condemned Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami for claiming that the CAA does not harm Indian Muslims or refugees, calling his defense politically disingenuous and subservient to Delhi's dictates. He explained that NPR serves as the foundational administrative tool for NRC, leaving millions of impoverished citizens vulnerable to arbitrary disenfranchisement. Stalin asserted that Tamil Nadu must emulate other progressive states like Kerala and Punjab by officially refusing to conduct NPR enumeration.

Stalin affirmed that the signature drive is a peaceful, constitutional exercise designed to unite all democratic sections of society. He expressed confidence that mass public petitioning will force the authorities to repeal the discriminatory measures.
