Editorial context

DMK president M.K. Stalin addressed a massive public gathering in Mayiladuthurai organized to pay solemn tribute to the martyrs of the historic language movement on Language Martyrs Day. Stalin recalled the extraordinary valor of youths and students who laid down their lives during the 1965 agitations to protect the linguistic sovereignty of the mother tongue against Hindi imposition. He asserted that the historical sacrifice of those courageous martyrs transformed Tamil Nadu into a fortress of self-respect, linguistic pride, and federal consciousness that inspires democratic struggles across India.

Stalin observed that insidious attempts to undermine Tamil culture and linguistic equality persist through deceptive policy frameworks such as the draft National Education Policy. He warned that the ruling AIADMK administration has completely compromised the state's traditional two-language policy through spineless compromises with central rulers. Stalin reminded the audience that the Dravidian movement's foundational ethos was built on unwavering defense of cultural rights, social justice, and state autonomy.

Stalin called upon the people of the delta region and the youth of Tamil Nadu to rekindle the spirit of the language martyrs. He affirmed that the DMK will persistently lead the democratic battle against cultural subjugation.

This is an initiative of unofficial DMK and Dravidian Ideology supporter, a fan of Thanthai Periyar, Perarignar Anna and Kalaignar — not affiliated with any official DMK party or persons.
