The Budget has no solutions to address joblessness, rural-agrarian distress and overall economic downturn.
Instead, it appears to be a bag of empty promises with overtones of regressive cultural imposition.
It is pro-rich, anti-middle class & direction-less.

DMK president M.K. Stalin issued a trenchant critique of the Union Budget 2020 presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, terming it completely directionless, pro-corporate, and fundamentally anti-middle class. Stalin noted that the fiscal blueprint offered zero viable solutions to tackle acute national joblessness, deepening rural agrarian distress, and the prolonged macroeconomic downturn gripping the country. Instead of providing substantial fiscal stimulus or direct financial assistance to struggling farmers and small enterprises, the budget presented empty promises accompanied by regressive cultural undertones.
Stalin observed that India's farming communities are reeling under severe debt burdens, rising input costs, and unremunerative crop prices, yet the central budget failed to allocate adequate capital investments for irrigation, storage infrastructure, or debt relief. Similarly, the educated youth struggling with historic levels of unemployment received no tangible roadmap for industrial employment generation. He criticized the central government for prioritizing corporate concessions while offering negligible tax relief or purchasing power support to middle-class salaried families.
Stalin demanded a fundamental overhaul of central economic policies to focus on mass employment, rural purchasing power, and equitable regional allocations. He affirmed that economic revival requires genuine public welfare rather than hollow budgetary rhetoric.
