DMK president M.K. Stalin condemned the Union government for glaring financial discrimination in budgetary allocations between Sanskrit and Classical Tamil. Official data revealed that over the preceding three years, the central government allocated 643.84 crore rupees for Sanskrit promotion, while granting a meager 22.94 crore rupees for Classical Tamil development. Stalin described this staggering disparity as concrete evidence of the central administration's deep bias against ancient regional languages, exposing a deliberate policy to privilege one language over living tongues.
Stalin criticized the AIADMK administration under Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami for lacking the political courage to challenge central financial injustice. He pointed out that Tamil, recognized as an official classical language with millennia of literary heritage, receives less than four percent of the funds disbursed to Sanskrit. By remaining silent before central ministries, the state government abandoned its basic duty to defend Tamil linguistic dignity and research institutions like the Central Institute of Classical Tamil.
Stalin demanded that the Union government correct this fiscal imbalance immediately and allocate proportionate funding for Tamil research, translation, and technological promotion. He asserted that the DMK will persistently fight against cultural hegemony. Stalin affirmed that defending linguistic equality remains central to federal democracy.
