DMK president and Leader of the Opposition M.K. Stalin questioned the AIADMK administration in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, asking whether the Chief Minister had the courage to halt the National Population Register enumeration. Stalin highlighted that the state government previously refused to pass a legislative resolution against the Citizenship Amendment Act out of subservience to the Union government. He demanded to know whether the regime would continue compromising state autonomy while citizens faced profound anxiety over their constitutional rights.
Stalin also addressed the Cauvery Delta Protected Agricultural Zone Development Bill introduced by the state government. He argued that to truly protect farming communities and agricultural land, the legislation must undergo detailed scrutiny by an all-party select committee. Stalin stressed that rushing incomplete legislation through the assembly without addressing glaring loopholes, missing districts, and pre-existing exploration licenses does a severe disservice to delta farmers.
Stalin urged the treasury benches to prioritize citizen welfare and agrarian livelihoods over administrative convenience and central compliance. He demanded that the state government adopt an unequivocal stance against discriminatory citizenship surveys. Stalin concluded that his party will persistently defend the constitutional rights of citizens and the land rights of farmers across Tamil Nadu.
