#LettertoBrethren
DMK president and Leader of the Opposition M.K. Stalin challenged the AIADMK administration inside the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly demanding a clear declaration that the controversial National Population Register enumeration would not be permitted in the state. Stalin pointed out that supporting the Citizenship Amendment Act in Parliament was an unforgivable betrayal of Tamil Nadu's secular ethos, and challenged the treasury benches to seek penance by rejecting the NPR exercise outright.
Stalin presented a detailed list of widespread hardships confronting millions of citizens, particularly minorities, rural agrarian families, and destitute populations who lack ancestral documentation. Despite detailed debates, the Chief Minister and cabinet ministers refused to give a firm commitment that the state would halt the survey in its current intrusive form. Stalin observed that the ruling regime's evasive posture exposed its total subservience to central political dictates at the expense of its own citizens.
Stalin affirmed that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam will continue using every legislative and constitutional avenue to pressure the government into action. He emphasized that protecting the fundamental rights and peace of mind of Tamil Nadu residents remains a sacred duty. Stalin reiterated that democratic resistance will persist until discriminatory citizenship measures are abandoned.
