DMK president M.K. Stalin raised serious questions regarding the transparency, execution, and financial integrity of thousands of crores spent by the state administration under the guise of flood prevention and Kudimaramathu water restoration schemes. Stalin observed that despite grand official claims of revitalizing ancient irrigation networks, ground reality revealed shoddy work, and massive siphoning of public funds. He asked whether public works were genuinely occurring on the ground or merely fabricated through forged paperwork and inflated invoices.

Water management remains vital for Tamil Nadu's agrarian prosperity, drinking water security, and urban disaster mitigation. Stalin pointed out that arbitrary bund strengthening and superficial earthmoving had left irrigation tanks, supply channels, and urban drainage networks vulnerable to sudden monsoon floods and silt accumulation. Without transparent public social audits, engineer certifications, and local farmer involvement, state water conservation funds are being systematically looted by contractors aligned with ruling party leaders.

Stalin issued a strict directive to all DMK district committees and local body representatives to conduct on-site physical inspections of all desilting projects across their regions. He instructed cadres to document irregularities and present evidence directly to the public. Stalin reaffirmed that protecting water resources and holding the administration accountable remain top priorities.
