DMK president M.K. Stalin criticized Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami's government for belatedly designating former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa's birth anniversary as 'Girl Child Protection Day' three years after her demise. Stalin argued that the ruling administration possesses no moral standing to lecture the public on female safety, pointing to its failure to protect women and girls across Tamil Nadu. He highlighted horrific, unforgotten tragedies including the Pollachi sexual assault network, the death of young techie Subasri caused by illegal political banners, and the permanent disability suffered by Anuradha.
Stalin noted that symbolic declarations and official photo opportunities cannot erase the state's appalling record of shielding perpetrators and neglecting public safety. In the infamous Pollachi case, state administrative machinery actively protected politically connected sexual predators while intimidating courageous survivors seeking justice. Stalin pointed out that political hoardings erected by ruling party leaders routinely endangered women pedestrians and motorists on civic roads without administrative intervention.
Stalin called upon the government to abandon hypocritical rhetoric and enforce uncompromising statutory measures to protect women from violence. He demanded fast-track courts and severe punishment for abusers. Stalin reiterated that true respect for women requires systemic institutional accountability, social justice, and fearless law enforcement.
