DMK president M.K. Stalin addressed the massive Citizenship Protection Conference organized by the Tamil Nadu People's Unity Forum in Chennai, reaffirming his party's unyielding commitment to defending constitutional equality and secularism. Stalin declared that the contentious Citizenship Amendment Act, National Population Register, and National Register of Citizens form a coordinated attempt to undermine the foundational values of the Indian Constitution. He stressed that secularism is not merely a political slogan, but the indispensable guarantee of harmonious coexistence among diverse linguistic and religious communities.
Stalin commended the forum for uniting civil society organizations, trade unions, human rights activists, and political parties on a shared democratic platform. He pointed out that mass public resistance across Tamil Nadu and the nation demonstrates that citizens will never compromise their fundamental rights. Stalin highlighted the historic role played by the Dravidian movement in fighting against caste oppression, religious bigotry, and sectarian discrimination throughout modern history.
Stalin pledged that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam will continue mobilizing legal, legislative, and grassroots resources until discriminatory citizenship measures are completely repealed. He called upon all secular and democratic forces to maintain resolute unity. Stalin concluded by affirming that collective civic resistance will safeguard constitutional democracy for future generations.
