DMK president and Leader of the Opposition M.K. Stalin urged the state government inside the Legislative Assembly to mobilize private healthcare facilities to prepare for potential surges in coronavirus infections. Stalin noted that while state-run medical facilities shoulder significant burdens, managing widespread viral transmission requires integrating private hospitals, clinics, and diagnostic labs across every district. He warned that waiting for public hospitals to become overwhelmed before engaging private healthcare capacity would prove disastrous.

Stalin called upon the Chief Minister and health administrators to convene an emergency coordination meeting with private hospital managements, nursing home associations, and medical diagnostics providers. He insisted that the government establish standardized treatment protocols, cap diagnostic testing fees, and allocate emergency state funding to support facility upgrades. Stalin stressed that public funds must guarantee that private facilities reserve dedicated isolation wards, ventilator beds, and critical care units for epidemic management.

Stalin emphasized that safeguarding public health demands unified medical resources and active public-private cooperation during unprecedented emergencies. He called on the administration to remove administrative red tape and provide clear operational mandates to healthcare providers. Stalin concluded that adequate funding, transparent planning, and integrated hospital networks will ensure equitable medical treatment for every citizen.
