DMK president M.K. Stalin called upon the Tamil Nadu government to implement an immediate economic security package to safeguard workers and vulnerable families during the pandemic lockdown. Stalin emphasized that the administration must formally ensure that government staff, schoolteachers, and private sector employees receive their full monthly salaries without deductions. He demanded that the state provide one month of direct cash assistance to all unorganized sector workers and guarantee the uninterrupted supply of free ration commodities to impoverished households.
Stalin observed that millions of casual laborers, construction workers, street vendors, and domestic help face total economic devastation when containment orders freeze urban activity. Without daily cash earnings, these families cannot afford basic groceries, medications, or cooking fuel. Providing upfront financial relief and comprehensive public distribution supplies prevents destitution and enables citizens to adhere to quarantine protocols with peace of mind.
Stalin simultaneously appealed to the general public to practice home quarantine and physical distancing with the utmost care, discipline, and social responsibility. He emphasized that individual caution and administrative welfare must reinforce one another to defeat the epidemic. Stalin reaffirmed that the DMK will continue championing comprehensive economic protections for every working-class family across the state.
