DMK president M.K. Stalin characterized the Tamil Nadu government's initial financial allocation of three thousand two hundred eighty crore rupees for pandemic mitigation as severely inadequate given the colossal scale of public distress. Stalin pointed out that millions of informal workers, agricultural laborers, small traders, and daily wage earners have completely lost their livelihoods due to the lockdown. A meager fiscal allocation spread thinly across an enormous population cannot provide genuine economic sustenance or sufficiently equip public healthcare institutions.
Stalin urged the state administration to aggressively pursue and secure substantial disaster management grants and revenue compensation from the Union government. He stressed that Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami must not hesitate to demand Tamil Nadu's legitimate fiscal entitlements from New Delhi. The state requires expansive financial resources to raise direct cash transfers for vulnerable households, purchase intensive care hospital equipment, and finance subsidized community canteens.
Stalin reaffirmed that the DMK will support every robust fiscal demand made by the state government to the central leadership. He warned that timid financial planning during an unprecedented calamity will lead to widespread hunger and economic devastation. Stalin demanded that the government implement the opposition's comprehensive relief proposals without delay.
