Taking immediate action upon receiving urgent distress calls, DMK president M.K. Stalin intervened directly with the Telangana government to rescue Tamil Nadu vendors stranded in northern Telangana. Stalin informed the Telangana Chief Minister's Office and Minister K.T. Rama Rao that small vendors from Tamil Nadu were trapped in Kisan Nagar in the Balakonda region of Nizamabad district without adequate food, drinking water, or secure shelter. He requested immediate administrative intervention to supply emergency rations and ensure safe living arrangements.
Stalin provided the contact coordinates of Rasamurugesan, president of the Tamil Nadu Small Vendors Development Association, enabling district welfare officers to establish direct communication with the distressed group. He noted that itinerant street vendors operate on extremely thin financial margins and found themselves entirely destitute when lockdown orders halted their trading activities. Without local family networks or regional language familiarity, these vulnerable workers were at immediate risk of starvation.
Stalin commended the responsiveness of Telangana authorities in initiating verification and relief distribution. He pledged that the DMK will continue tracking the welfare of these vendors until they are safely reintegrated or repatriated. Stalin affirmed that defending the welfare of working-class Tamils across state borders is an enduring commitment of his leadership.
