Dear Uddhavji, Thank you for your support to our Tamil Nadu vendors during this critical period. Really appreciate the swift action. @CMOMaharashtra
DMK president M.K. Stalin expressed warm appreciation to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray for his administration's prompt and compassionate intervention in assisting Tamil Nadu vendors stranded in Maharashtra. After Stalin alerted the Maharashtra government regarding the precarious plight of small trade vendors left without food or shelter in Mumbai and surrounding districts, state authorities acted swiftly to inspect locations, provide hot meals, and guarantee safe shelter. Stalin commended this rapid response as a shining example of inter-state cooperation.
Stalin emphasized that the nationwide lockdown imposed immense hardships upon itinerant traders, street vendors, and casual laborers who travel across state borders for livelihood opportunities. Displaced far from their home districts, these individuals lacked local ration entitlements and financial reserves to survive prolonged commercial shutdowns. Timely administrative action by the Maharashtra government provided crucial relief and prevented severe humanitarian distress among vulnerable Tamil families.
Stalin affirmed that cross-state administrative solidarity demonstrates the true spirit of Indian federalism during catastrophic public health crises. He reiterated the DMK's readiness to assist workers from any state who are stranded in Tamil Nadu. Stalin reaffirmed that protecting vulnerable migrant workers requires proactive leadership and sustained compassion across regional boundaries.
