Demonstrating proactive leadership on behalf of displaced citizens, DMK president M.K. Stalin intervened directly with the Maharashtra state government to address severe distress among Tamil Nadu workers housed in Solapur. Workers lodged at the SPM School relief camp had reached out to Stalin reporting mistreatment by local facility managers, irregular food distribution, and deeply unhygienic living conditions. Immediately championing their cause, Stalin tagged Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and minister Aaditya Thackeray, requesting immediate administrative inspection and prompt redressal.

Stalin emphasized that migrant workers stranded far from their homes during an emergency deserve dignified, humane treatment and clean living environments. Compounding their anxiety over lost earnings with substandard meals and unsanitary surroundings creates severe physical and psychological distress. He stressed that municipal authorities must enforce strict hygiene protocols, supply wholesome food, and ensure respectful behavior from camp administrators toward all displaced laborers.

Stalin affirmed that the DMK operates as a vigilant guardian for Tamils wherever they reside across India. He pledged to track developments at the Solapur facility until all grievances are resolved satisfactorily. Stalin reiterated that inter-state solidarity and compassionate grievance redressal are essential pillars in navigating the unprecedented challenges posed by the nationwide lockdown.
