DMK president M.K. Stalin strongly condemned the Karur district administration for abruptly rescinding its acceptance of emergency constituency development funds allocated by Aravakurichi legislator V. Senthilbalaji. The designated funds were specifically earmarked to purchase ventilators, testing devices, and protective equipment for the Karur Government Medical College Hospital to prepare for escalating coronavirus cases. Stalin remarked that the bureaucratic about-face represents a disgraceful example of political vindictiveness that directly undermines regional healthcare preparedness.
Stalin cautioned the state leadership that public health emergencies require absolute administrative neutrality and cross-party cooperation, not petty political maneuvers. When an elected representative steps forward to strengthen government hospital infrastructure with statutory constituency funds, rejecting that support out of partisan spite compromises patient lives across rural Karur. Doctors, nurses, and critically ill citizens require modern equipment, and blocking medical procurement under administrative pretexts damages public trust.
Stalin called upon the Chief Minister and health secretary to immediately rectify the administrative decision and ensure all allocated funds are utilized to modernize Karur hospital's intensive care facilities. He reiterated that the DMK remains committed to utilizing every legislative resource to protect public health and upgrade medical infrastructure across all Tamil Nadu districts.
