DMK president M.K. Stalin expressed profound grief over the death of another dedicated doctor from coronavirus infection in Tamil Nadu, while conveying acute shock and distress over reports that several frontline police personnel and working journalists had contracted the contagion while performing their public duties. Stalin underscored that this alarming escalation of viral infections among essential personnel who actively protect public health and safety indicates a grave public health emergency that demands immediate, war-footing administrative intervention.
Stalin censured the AIADMK administration for continuing to display bureaucratic complacency, inconsistent testing policies, and severe negligence in equipping frontline workers with high-standard protective gear. He pointed out that when doctors, police officers, and media professionals risking their lives daily are left unprotected, the entire societal containment defense faces imminent collapse. Ensuring the absolute occupational safety of these frontline warriors is an urgent moral and operational imperative for the state government.
Stalin demanded that the Chief Minister immediately order the universal distribution of certified PPE kits, arrange specialized insurance coverage, and mandate regular diagnostic screenings for all frontline responders and municipal staff across Tamil Nadu.
