DMK president M.K. Stalin registered strong condemnation against Daily Thanthi for publishing a derogatory political cartoon that demeaned the revered memory and towering stature of DMK founder and former Chief Minister Perarignar Anna. Stalin emphasized that while freedom of expression represents an indispensable cornerstone of democratic society that the Dravidian movement has always championed, irresponsible attempts by politically motivated or historically ignorant entities to disparage legendary leaders and ideological movements cross all boundaries of journalistic decency.
Stalin highlighted that Perarignar Anna was an extraordinary intellectual, playwright, orator, and statesman who transformed Tamil Nadu's political landscape through linguistic pride, social justice, and constitutional federalism, inspiring generations of Tamils worldwide. Reducing such an illustrious architect of modern Tamil society to cheap caricature undermines responsible journalism and deeply offends millions of citizens who hold his memory in sacred reverence.
Stalin called upon media publications and editorial managements to safeguard professional ethics and exhibit historical awareness when commenting on iconic figures. He affirmed that the DMK will persistently defend the ideological dignity, secular heritage, and historic legacy of Dravidian leaders against all forms of unprincipled denigration.
