DMK president M.K. Stalin demanded full administrative accountability from the AIADMK government regarding the procurement of rapid antibody test kits at highly inflated rates, highlighting the landmark verdict delivered by the Delhi High Court that capped kit prices in public interest. Stalin pointed out that while the judicial bench intervened to protect citizens by limiting the wholesale cost of diagnostic kits to four hundred rupees, the Tamil Nadu government had recklessly agreed to purchase kits imported at two hundred forty-five rupees for an exorbitant price of six hundred rupees each.

Stalin questioned why state procurement authorities bypassed direct manufacturer channels to award lucrative purchase contracts to unapproved intermediary firms, raising grave suspicions of kickbacks and systematic financial malfeasance during a public health emergency. Profiteering from pandemic diagnostic testing represents an unconscionable betrayal of public trust when thousands of impoverished citizens are struggling to access timely healthcare.
