DMK president M.K. Stalin strongly criticized the Union government for announcing exam schedules for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) amid the severe coronavirus crisis. Stalin condemned the move as an insensitive decision that disregarded the immense mental anxiety and logistical impediments confronting aspiring medical students across the country. He questioned how students could adequately prepare and safely appear for high-stakes examinations while residing under strict lockdown and acute health risks.
Stalin emphasized that NEET inherently discriminates against underprivileged rural students, government school pupils, and marginalized communities who lack access to expensive private coaching centers. Forcing an arbitrary exam timetable during an unprecedented global pandemic exacerbates social inequities, effectively shattering the hard-earned medical aspirations of underprivileged youth who lack quiet study spaces, digital resources, and reliable transportation during lockdown.
Stalin urged the Union government to immediately postpone the examination until public health conditions normalize completely across all states. He demanded that the AIADMK administration shed its passive compliance and register official opposition to safeguard Tamil Nadu's educational sovereignty. Stalin reaffirmed the DMK's steadfast commitment to eliminating discriminatory centralized tests, securing equitable medical education access for all aspiring youth throughout the country.
