DMK president M.K. Stalin conducted an extensive virtual conference with representatives and owners of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across Tamil Nadu to assess the severe economic paralysis gripping the manufacturing and processing sector. Business owners shared pressing concerns regarding canceled trade orders, ruptured supply chains, accumulating wage obligations, and severe liquidity shortages caused by prolonged pandemic lockdown restrictions. Stalin listened carefully to their detailed representations regarding mounting overheads and fixed operational charges.
Stalin highlighted that Tamil Nadu's dynamic MSME ecosystem serves as the backbone of industrial employment and economic production, providing livelihoods to millions of skilled and semi-skilled workers. Leaving small manufacturers without institutional support risks triggering catastrophic enterprise insolvencies and permanent factory closures across industrial corridors like Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Guindy, and Ambattur. He condemned the state government for its passive demeanor and failure to deliver tailored financial interventions.
Stalin urged the Union and Tamil Nadu governments to immediately announce comprehensive fiscal revival packages, including moratorium extensions, interest subsidies, electricity demand charge waivers, and emergency working capital loans. He pledged the DMK's sustained advocacy to ensure the survival and rejuvenation of local industries. Stalin affirmed that enterprise stability is indispensable to protecting industrial jobs and regional growth.
