DMK president M.K. Stalin questioned the rationale behind the Tamil Nadu government's sudden decision to schedule tenth standard board examinations while severe uncertainties persisted regarding disease contagion, lockdown extensions, and public transport availability. Stalin emphasized that announcing examination schedules without ensuring basic physical safety, psychological preparedness among schoolchildren, or transportation access demonstrates administrative detachment from the ground realities confronting ordinary families across the state.
Stalin pointed out that adolescent students and their anxious parents had endured immense emotional stress and academic disruption during the prolonged lockdown. Forcing nearly one million pupils to sit for high-stakes public examinations without addressing infection risks in examination centers creates immense panic and threatens community health throughout diverse towns and rural areas.
Stalin urged the state administration to first guarantee the restoration of normalcy and consult recognized teachers' associations, parent-teacher federations, and public health authorities before finalizing examination dates. He affirmed that academic assessments must never be conducted under coercive or hazardous conditions, demanding that the welfare, physical safety, and mental peace of students remain the primary determinants of educational governance across Tamil Nadu schools.
