It is heartbreaking to witness the devastation caused by #CyclonAmphan in West Bengal and Odisha when the states are already fighting #Covid_19 crisis.
I stand in solidarity with the states and hope for a speedy recovery for the people affected by it.
DMK president M.K. Stalin expressed profound grief and solidarity with the people and governments of West Bengal and Odisha in the wake of the catastrophic destruction wrought by Super Cyclone Amphan. Stalin remarked that witnessing the immense loss of innocent lives, widespread flattening of homes, and extensive ruin of vital infrastructure was truly heartbreaking, especially as both eastern coastal states were already waging an exhausting battle against the coronavirus contagion.
Stalin extended his deepest condolences to the bereaved families who lost loved ones to the ferocious cyclonic winds and coastal storm surges. He recognized the immense resilience and fortitude displayed by regional administrations, emergency rescue personnel, and civil society volunteers striving tirelessly to evacuate vulnerable populations and restore critical power and transport links under extraordinary dual-disaster circumstances.
Stalin affirmed that the people of Tamil Nadu and the DMK stand in complete brotherhood and emotional solidarity with the affected populations during their hour of unprecedented national tragedy. He expressed earnest hope for swift recovery, calling upon national disaster authorities to disburse immediate financial and logistical assistance to restore livelihoods and rebuild devastated coastal communities.
