DMK president M.K. Stalin expressed grave concern as Tamil Nadu rose to second place nationally in total coronavirus cases, recording over 173 fatalities while suffering from acute shortages of lifesaving critical care infrastructure. Stalin revealed that despite repeated warnings and mounting infections, the AIADMK government failed to procure an adequate number of ventilators, intensive care beds, and life-support machinery needed to handle severe pulmonary complications among hospital patients.

Stalin condemned Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami for squandering the entire two-month national lockdown period on superficial personal publicity and empty administrative claims instead of methodically augmenting hospital capacity. While patients struggled to secure hospital admissions and specialized clinical equipment, the state government maintained a complacent posture, falsely assuring the public that transmission remained under complete control.

Stalin urged the administration to abandon self-congratulatory press briefings and dedicate all administrative machinery to aggressive containment, medical supply procurement, and diagnostic expansion throughout June. He reiterated that protecting human lives demands practical investments in public health capacity, timely therapeutic equipment delivery, and evidence-based epidemiological governance across all government healthcare facilities throughout the entire state of Tamil Nadu.
